Mo Habib Translation Prize in Persian Literature Calls for Submissions

The Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures, in partnership with the Mo Habib Memorial Foundation and Dallas-based publisher Deep Vellum Press, has recently launched the Mo Habib Translation Prize in Persian Literature.

They are inviting translators in modern Persian fiction (novel and short story collection) from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and their diaspora.

The winning translation will be published by Vellum Press and receive a prize of $10,000.

If you are translating from Persian, please submit your work with the following materials in a single PDF file by March 1, 2023.

  • A one-page cover letter that describes the work to be translated, and speaks to its larger import
  • An up-to-date CV (no more than 3 pages)
  • A bilingual sample of the proposed translation (no more than 20 pages, double spaced, in both languages)
  • Proof of copyrights (if applicable)
